 Name: Madeleine Bachmann-Fischer Date of birth: 30.12.1959 Education: Matura type A: Classical languages (Greek and Latin), 1978 Languages: German (mother tongue), French and English After completing my translation studies at the University of Geneva (ETI) in 1983, I took up a permanent position as an in-house translator at a large service club organisation in Zurich. After that, I spent several years training and travelling as an ICRC delegate (with missions in the Philippines, Sudan and Mozambique) and working as a junior copywriter at an international advertising agency and as an in-house translator for a bilingual television breakfast show broadcasting company. Currently registered in the Swiss Commercial Register as a private firm under the name of “Bachmann Übersetzungen & Texte”, since 1991 I have worked as a freelance translator and copywriter as well as a public-service interpreter and freelance editorial assistant for a local newspaper. |
